CHANEL PERFECTION LUMIERE VELVET

Let me say that, I am a huge fan of Chanel foundations. They give you a perfect complexion allowing the natural beauty of your skin to shine through. I love Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet foundation mainly for its feather-light formula and glowing matte finish. It’s an oil-free, fluid foundation with broad-spectrum SPF 15 sunscreen. This foundation is available in 12 shades. My shade is 20 Beige which is a good match for my skin tone in summer, but a little bit dark in winter.

I generally don’t like mattifying foundations, and how they feel on my skin.  They usually dry out my skin, and get in pores, and creases making them more visible. But Perfection Lumière Velvet foundation is completely different. It’s a brilliant formula. It is matte and luminous at the same time. It’s my skin-but-better kind of foundation, super smooth and very lightweight on your skin. It almost feels like you’re not wearing anything at all, very comfortable for everyday wear.

Obviously, this thin ultra-lightweight foundation is not for those who look for a full-coverage formula. It’s not buildable either, you have to stick with the first application. It has sheer to moderate coverage, the perfect coverage level for the summertime. It has a natural-looking finish, but with enough coverage to even out your skin tone and blur the imperfections. The staying power is good, it doesn’t break down after a few hours. Yet it’s not one of those super long-lasting foundations.

The formula is so watery that I don’t like applying it with a brush. I prefer to blend it with my fingertips. You have to shake the bottle before every application. It’s a water-based foundation and the pigments are going to settle in the bottom of the bottle. So shaking is important. I like how the foundation smells, it’s a faint smell of roses. Absolutely love it. I also like the sleek packaging. It is simple, elegant, and travel-friendly.

Perfection Lumière Velvet foundation works so well for my normal-combination skin. But it’s not ideal for those who have dry or flaky skin, it can cling to dry patches. I think Chanel Vitalumière Aqua or Les Beiges would be a better choice if your skin is on the dry side. Overall, Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet foundation is one of the best foundations I have ever tried and is a must-have product in my makeup collection.
